The short version

Soo Spin is a community platform run by Community Spin in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. We collect only what the service needs to work, we never sell your information, and there are no third-party advertising trackers on this service.

What we collect

• Account details — your name and email address when you create an account, plus a securely scrambled (hashed) password. We never see or store your actual password.
• What you post — stories, events, marketplace notices, photos and videos you choose to submit, and reactions you leave.
• Feedback — comments you send through the review box, including your name if you provide it.
• Basic technical information — the type of device and browser you use, so the service works well on your phone.

What we use it for

• Running the daily feed, events, marketplace and community-watch features
• Human moderation — reviewing submissions before they appear publicly
• Keeping your account secure and remembering your sign-in
• Improving the service based on how neighbours use it

What we never do

• Sell or rent your personal information to anyone
• Use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies
• Publish your email address or private account details publicly

Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies — only what keeps you signed in and keeps the service secure. No advertising cookies, no tracking cookies.

Your choices

You may edit or delete your own posts at any time, and you may ask us to remove your account and personal information entirely by emailing us. Public posts you have made are removed from public view when you delete them.
